School of Underground Mining (SEP) is not only the largest, but also the most important conference in Polish mining industry. Every year it gathers over 500 participants, authors and invited guests. From the beginning it is organised by the team of Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of Polish Academy of Sciences with Jerzy Kicki, Ph.D. as Chairman of the Organisational Committee. AGH University of Science and Technology’s Department of Underground Mining is the co-organizer of the conference.

School of Underground Mining lasts for five days and is held in Krakow in February. The participants can attend numerous thematic sessions, which included topics like:

  • Controlling and cost management in mines
  • Methods of decreasing exploitation costs
  • Pits making and maintenance
  • Energy management and electric power optimalization in mines
  • Safety management in mining industry
