Wiadomości Górnicze 3/2016 Steel-Rockbolt-Concrete Lining in Main Headings at Large Depths in “Stefanów” Panel of LW “Bogdanka” S.A. Mine A large depth of the established workings and – in case of main headings – the requirement of long-term operation, calls for the search of new solutions or the improvement of the existing lining solutions. It is not only the structure of the lining of the heading that is significant, but also the tech- nology of both driving the heading and the assembly of the lining. Based on the experience of many years pertaining to the construction and maintenance of headings in the BOGDANKA and NADRYBIE panels, a modern system of steel-rockbolt-concrete linings was developed for the application in large-size chambers over and below the retention tanks, conveyor headings loading the skip pocket, in the skip pocket and other headings. The low strength parameters of rocks surrounding the headings called for the reinforcement of the highly laminated rock mass using low roof bolting and special arch supports with limited yielding capacity, made of highly durable steel, long injection bolting (8 to 10 m length), using shotcrete on the supports, conducting injection for bonding the supports and the rock mass. With regards to the time of existence of the headings driven in years 2008  2012, their good condition without signs of technical wear has been observed, which allows for a positive as- sessment of their long-time operation. The article concerns geological and mining conditions, the location of headings, the struc- tures of the support solutions, the technology of the supports, the conducted author’s supervi- sion, the results of the underground observations, further application perspectives and the pos- sible improvements (reinforcement) of the applied solutions. Keywords: mining, roof support, support choice
