Application of Predictive Analytics in Selected Decision-Making Processes in Mining Industry The purpose of this paper is to indicate the possibility of using predictive analytics in the area of decision-making processes in the mining industry. The paper characterizes the theory of de- cision-making processes with the examples of decisions taken in mining and the development of tools used to support these processes. The essence of predictive analytics – technology sig- nificantly affecting the development of this field was discussed, along with its main stages and currently used approaches. The subsequent part shows the positive impact of the use of analyt- ics in decision-making processes in Polish and global mining. The presented topic is comple- mented by the proposal of prediction application in a new business area of mining, which is the management of investment project portfolios on the example of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. Deductive inference was used in the paper, along with critical literature analysis and analysis of selected decision cases that were used as the research method.
