THE USE OF SHOTCRETE LAYER AND ITS PROTECTION IN AN AGGRESSIVE MINING ENVIRONMENT ON THE EXAMPLE OF ZIEMOWIT PART OF PIAST-ZIEMOWIT COAL MINE Taking under consideration the conditions in Ziemowit part of Piast-Ziemowit coal mine, the mine environment can be described as one of the most aggressive. It is determined by mine water, in particular by water flowing from the rock mass, which are characterized by high sa- linity by reaction with the surrounding rock, rinsing out soluble matter, causing an increase in water mineralization and an increase in air humidity. Under such conditions, the corrosion pro- cesses of the steel support of the roadway intensively take place. Shotcreting of roadway’s steel support is an alternative method to the costly, time-consuming and, above all, dangerous recon- struction of the roadway support. Application of a shotcrete layer is performed by spraying concrete on the surface of the ort in order to improve its stability and strengthen the support. Numerous condensation of highly mineralized mine water also affects the degradation of the applied shotcrete layer. The article presents the impact of highly mineralized water on the shot- crete layer and the results of the application of membranes applied to the shotcrete layer in or- der to seal it and protect it against salt crystallization on its surface.
