Release of seismic energy before high-energy seismic events based on Benioff’s theory of deformations. ABSTRACT: The object of the following thesis is the spatio-temporal analysis of a seismic energy release, caused by seismic events induced by mining activity in the Sośnica Coal Mine PGG S.A. Company. Despite the fact that the current state of knowledge about mining seis- mology does not allow for an exact prediction of time, location and magnitude of the seismic event, it can be said that these events do not occur randomly in space and time. The main pur- pose is to identify the characters of Benioff strain curves for two longwall mining walls. More- over in the following thesis there is an attempt to link the moment of high-energy seismic event with the changing geological and mining conditions during mining and with the wall progress, time and amount of seismic energy released before high-energy event.
