administrative and household complexes; coal, material and forest warehouses; mechanical workshops; transformer substations; stationary installations; railway tracks; highways; high- voltage power lines, etc., as well as sludge clarifiers, water treatment facilities, rock dumps. A small thermal energy complex in general can include a coal plant, an energy and technological module (Fig. 1) [6], where: Coal enterprise – designed to provide the energy module with the necessary amount of fuel, which can be used as low-grade coal, coal beneficiation waste and mine methane and other types of carbon-containing raw materials. The energy module is designed for the simultaneous production of heat and electricity for self-sufficiency and the possibility of selling excess heat and electricity to third-party consumers. For example, in European and Asian countries, where the share of solid fuel use is high, all environmental standards are observed during energy production. This is ensured by the introduction of solid fuel processing technologies, such as gasification, pyrolysis, fluidized bed and others, into the energy production processes, which allow solving environmental problems. Technological module – an opportunity to develop additional production due to self- sufficiency in thermal and electrical energy and waste from the coal mine and energy module, such as steam, surplus thermal energy, ash and mine rock, for example, it can be a brick factory, various agro-firms and other productions with obtaining highly liquid goods, for example, hydrogen, synthetic gasoline, diesel fuel. According to the Law of Ukraine "Alternative Energy Sources", alternative energy sources include biomass energy, methane degassing of coal deposits, waste energy potential of technological processes, biomass energy. The listed energy resources are fully available in coal-mining regions. Methane of coal deposits . The main combustible component of such gas is methane, CH 4 , which is contained in a sorbed state on the surface of coal particles, as well as dissolved in coal. Coal mine methane (CMM) makes a significant contribution to the greenhouse effect both on a global scale and in Ukraine. The issue of reducing methane emissions has energy, economic and environmental benefits. First, methane is a powerful gas, the greenhouse effect of which is 21 times greater than the greenhouse effect of CO 2 , but with a short period of stay in the atmosphere, so reducing its emission can cause a significant and relatively quick effect. Secondly, the extraction and utilization of methane provides a valuable clean energy resource with the possibility of obtaining additional income. Every year in Ukraine, over 2 billion m3of methane were released in the process of coal mining, 13% of which are extracted by degassing systems, 87% are released into the atmosphere through mine ventilation systems in the form of a low-concentration gas-air mixture, and approximately 4% are utilized. Global commitments on methane, and Ukraine has joined the Global Initiative to reduce methane emissions "Global Methane Pledge", requires countries to reduce anthropogenic methane emissions by at least 30% by 2030. However, even when coal mines are closed, methane can continue to seep for decades through abandoned shafts and cracks in the ground. As most of Ukraine's coal mines are slated for closure in the coming years, attention needs to be focused on how to reduce leakage during shutdowns. At the same time, mine methane is a high-potential source of energy and can be effectively used in mine energy complexes. The research solutions of the scientists of the IGTM of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in this direction have practical application and are implemented in the project on the extraction and utilization of mine methane on the basis of the mine named after O.F. Zasiadko [7-9]. According to this project, an energy complex was built on the basis of 12 JMS 620 gas- piston modular units of the Austrian company "Jenbacher", which operate on mine methane
