HORIZON CONTROL PLANE: FACE ADVANCE Matching the face advance angle to the seam is critical to increasing yield and providing a smooth path for the advancing shields, reducing the likelihood of automatic advancing errors which increase cycle times. Vertical arrows mark a manual floor profile target line being set to compensate for seam roll. The floor cut automatically follows the target line, resulting in a change of pan angle/face advance angle, then returning the target angle. The HBT Longwall Navigator system allows operators to set the target face advance angle and apply corrections to account for seam rolls, then thanks to our advanced steering algorithms, the Shearer automatically makes the required compensations.
