15 APPLICATION OF THE SRMS ROAD WAYS CONVERGENCE MEASUREMENT SYSTEM IN THE CONDITIONS OF PGG S.A. COAL MINE KWK PIAST-ZIEMOWIT PART ZIEMOWIT. Making road ways is related to the violation of the original balance in the rock massif. The original state of stress changes. The state of exertion of the rock mass depends on the second- ary state of stress, which in turn affects the processes of its deformation. Convergence is a quantity characterizing the tightening of road ways. Problems related to convergence and its measurement become crucial for ensuring the stability of long-term road ways. The longest exploited road ways are road ways located near the shafts. In order to prevent road ways tight- ening of the excavation, which may lead to collapse of the roof rocks, continuous measurement of the road ways dimensions should be carried out, thanks to which preventive measures can be taken earlier in order to avoid the threat and maintain the road ways stability. The system in question allows for continuous measurement of a large number of points and extending the research to a much larger number of road ways.
