FROM DATA TO KNOWLEDGE – AUTOMATIC ANALYSIS AND CLASSIFICATION OF POWERED ROOF SUPPORT SECTION CONDITIONS IN THE EH-SMARTMINE SYSTEM BASED ON IMPLEMENTATIONS AT JSW S.A. ABSTRACT: Modern mining requires tools that not only enable data acquisition but, above all, provide automatic interpretation and transformation of data into operational knowledge. The EH-SmartMine visualization application, developed by Elgór + Hansen S.A., processes hydraulic parameters of powered roof support sections in real time based on data from the RSPC III load monitoring system. Leveraging expert knowledge and close cooperation with Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A., advanced algorithms for classification and analysis of mea- surement data were developed. As a result, the application automatically recognizes operating cycles of individual sections, determines their duration, and identifies undesirable conditions such as load asymmetry of hydraulic legs, hydraulic system leakages, and improper operation of relief valves.The solution was developed and refined directly under operational conditions, enabling the improvement of classification models and time-series signal pattern detection methods. EH-SmartMine reduces the need for manual data interpretation, shortens the response time of maintenance services, and contributes to increased operational safety. The presented solution constitutes an example of a practical implementation of the “from data to knowledge” concept in the field of powered roof support monitoring and confirms the validity of integrating measurement data with expert knowledge in mining digitalization processes.
