THE CONCEPT OF REDUCING WATER HAZARD ON THE EXAMPLE OF INFLOW TO THE MINING EXCAVATIONS OF THE G-63 SECTION OF THE KGHM PM S.A. POLKOWICE-SIEROSZOWICE MINE BY MEANS OF ROCK MASS INJECTIONS PERFORMED FROM THE SURFACE ABSTRACT: Increased water inflow into the mining pits are dangerous from the point of view of crew safety, mining operations, and environmental protection. Mine dewatering requires financial investments and involves technical and human resources. Water from drainage must be either disposed of and is most often discharged either into water reservoirs or rivers, which affects the natural environment and additionally increases mining costs due to environmental fees. Over the last few years, the Polkowice-Sieroszowice mine has been struggling with these types of problems, caused by increased water inflow from water-bearing main dolomite layer (Ca2). Therefore, actions have been taken to expand the dewatering system in response to the increasing the inflow. The drilling of underground and surface appraisal wells have allowed for a better understanding of the geological structure in the area of observed water inflows into the main. This paper presents the work undertaken to reduce the inflow of water into the mining pits of the G-63 O/ZG Polkowice-Sieroszowice department by conducting injections from the surface. Sealing the rock mass on an unprecedented scale has made it possible to reduce the inflow and thus enable the safe operation of the KGHM mine without any loss of production. KEYWORDS: water hazard, water inflow into the mine, main dolomite layer Ca2, deep injection hole, cement slurry, rock mass grouting, injection recipes
